Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year
Please note: Children must be five years old on or before December 1, 2024 to register for kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year.
Registration Process
Families with older children already in the district and other families who have notified the district of a child who will be ready for kindergarten will receive a registration packet in the mail during the month of January every year.
Families who have not received their packet by mid-February should follow the steps below:
Please download, print and complete all applicable information on the forms.
Please print and use an ink pen.
A parent/guardian must sign both the Registration form at the bottom of page 2 and the Home Language Questionnaire.
Please be sure to list the appropriate baby-sitter/child-care information on the Transportation form.

UPK NOTE: If your child is registered in the MWCSD Universal Pre-Kindergarten program, it is not necessary to complete the Kindergarten Registration Forms. UPK students will be automatically moved up to Kindergarten.

All pages of the Enrollment Form packet must be returned to the Registrar

Proof of residency, immunization and birth certificate documentation are required at kindergarten screening in the spring.
Kindergarten Screening
Kindergarten screenings, required under NYS law, typically take place in May. Each child will spend approximately 45 minutes with members of our staff to determine concept, language, and speech development. There will also be a review of each child’s immunization and health records.
Families will receive a letter in late April indicating which school your child will attend in September, either Sapphire Elementary or Smith Clove Elementary, the date and time of your child’s kindergarten screening, and the required supplemental documentation.
